About SISTAHS

SISTAHS is an organization founded in August 2010 to enhance the intellectual and cultural endeavors of the women of our close knit family. We decided to call it the Sisterhood Intellectual Society for Theatre Arts History & Science to describe our purpose. The idea of our sisterhood organization was born on a beautiful summer day by the lakeside in lounge chairs. It was further solidified over a slow bottle of wine later that evening and discussions continued throughout our wonderful week together. With this blog we are moving forward with our mission of combining sisterhood and intellectual activities. We look forward to sharing through this medium. Founders Beth, Lynn, Amy, Molly and Ginny

Food + Art + Beauty = Impromptu Planning Day

Two of our founding members, Beth and Lynn, found themselves enjoying an impromptu lunch recently, which turned into a SISTAHS planning meeting of sorts. It all started when we decided to go, where else, but an art inspired restaurant in trendy Royal Oak, called Cafe' Muse'!

Once there we enjoyed a meal and a lovely glass of blooming floral tea. The site of the tea flowers "blossoming" in our clear glass tea cups and the delicate aroma they set forth, caused us to reflect on all things beautiful. All of this art and beauty brought us to a discussion of possible upcoming events for our Sisterhood Intellectual Society and a spontaneous planning meeting ensued.

We found ourselves compelled to look into ideas that had already been discussed by the group and to attempt to get a date set for our next endeavor. With Beth's iPhone in hand we were able to look up information on venues of interest and hone in on one particular idea. The opera!  We found that series tickets with Opera Talks before the show can be gotten, which sounded perfect for our faire group. We agreed on a basic plan, to be presented to the rest of our members in the near future and finished up our planning with discussions of scarves that could be worn to society events in the future. Finally, with plans set in motion we bid farewell to Cafe' Muse' to do a bit of purse and shoe shopping, topping off a lovely afternoon amongst SISTAHS~
